gas absorption with chemical reaction in turbulent flow

چکیده
in order to increase the rate of gas absorption, chemical reaction in the liquid phase is considered. the purpose of this paper was to simulate gas absorption process by a liquid film over a spherical packing incorporating eddy viscosity and diffusivity. second order chemical reaction for two different cases (fast and slow) were considered. the system partial differential equations obtained was solved by the use of finite difference method. in this study absorption of co2 by mono-ethanol amine (mea) and methyl di-ethanol amine (mdea) were considered, and velocity and concentration profiles in the liquid film were obtained. the simulation results revealed that, increasing of turbulence in the liquid film, increases the rate of gas absorption while decreases the thickness of the reaction zone.

متن کاملReaction front propagation in a turbulent flow.
The propagation of reaction fronts in a turbulent fluid flow is studied by direct numerical simulations in two space dimensions. The velocity field is obtained from integrating the Navier-Stokes equation in two dimensions. We investigate the structure of the reaction front and the enhancement of the front propagation speed due to turbulent mixing. Consistently with earlier theoretical, predicti...
متن کاملTurbulent Plumes with Internal Generation of Buoyancy by Chemical Reaction
Turbulent plumes, which are seen in a wide number of industrial and natural flows, have been extensively studied; however, very little attention has been paid to plumes which have an internal mechanism for changing buoyancy. Such plumes arise in e.g. industrial chimneys, where species can react and change the density of the plume material. These plumes with chemical reaction are the focus of th...
متن کاملAbsorption accompanied with chemical reaction in trickle-bed reactors
Abstraet---A new development in the field of internals in packed columns is the use of structured packing types. Recently, a new structured packing type coated with a thin alumina layer (KATAPAK rM) has been developed, in this report, the results of an experimental and theoretical study concerning the possible applicability of this new packing material for hydrogenation processes in a trickle-b...
متن کاملRadiative Convection Flow with Chemical Reaction
We study radiation convective fluid flow with chemical reaction. The dimensionless governing equations are solved using perturbation technique. The effects of velocity, temperature and concentration are studied for different parameters such as Grashof number, chemical reaction number, Prandtl number, Mass Grashof number and Radiative parameter. It is observed that the velocity increases with in...
متن کاملChemical Discrimination in Turbulent Gas Mixtures with MOX Sensors Validated by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry
Chemical detection systems based on chemo-resistive sensors usually include a gas chamber to control the sample air flow and to minimize turbulence. However, such a kind of experimental setup does not reproduce the gas concentration fluctuations observed in natural environments and destroys the spatio-temporal information contained in gas plumes. Aiming at reproducing more realistic environment...
